Our Breeding Philosophy
Our breeding philosophy is simple and straight forward...we produce puppies we would want to own. While our philosophy is clear cut the actual implementation is more of a winding path as there is no such thing as the "perfect" dog.
We are involved in showing our Cane Corsos in the AKC shows as we feel that preservation of breed type is critical, we prove our dog's in the conformation ring by earning Champion titles. While we do not breed exclusively for "leash candy" you are buying a Cane Corso... it should look like a Cane Corso.
Heath is also extremely important to us, while there's no guarantee with living beings (animal or human) we do the best we can to ensure all puppies have the best chance to be healthy as possible. We test our dogs for Hips, Elbows, CERF (eyes), Cardiac, and Patellas (knees). All of our puppies are vet checked multiple times before leaving us, come with a certificate of health from the vet. The puppies have their tails docked, dewclaws removed are also vaccinated and dewormed age appropriately, microchipped, and have a 24 month health warranty from us. Ear cropping is also available.
Above all temperament is paramount. Our puppies are raised in house with us, our other dogs and our children. We work hard to ensure all of our puppies have the best start to life possible by following the BioSensor (Super Puppy) program and Rules of 7 with them. The pup are exposed daily to normal household routines along with special socialization (trips to Lowes or Home Depot, trips to parks etc). They have the goal of meeting 100 new people by 12 weeks of age and visiting one new place a week. We have dogs which are Canine Good Citizens (http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/program.cfm), an AKC Community Canine (http://www.akc.org/dogowner/training/akc_community_canine/about.cfm) as well as a certified Therapy dog (http://tdi-dog.org/). We stress socialization to our new owners and will help to set them up with reputable training clubs around them.
With conformation, health, and temperament intertwined in our Corso puppies we strive to produce a stable, healthy conformationally correct Cane Corso who will bring years of loving companionship.
